The Gold Standard

Be sure to buy yourself a can of CAIG ProGold Gp5. Note that I have underlined the Gp5. This is the trick stuff! It'll run you about $20 (available at AZ Hi-Fi). This stuff is amazing. I used it to clean/treat my AC Cords' connectors, wall outlets, RCA connectors, and of course my IC connectors.  Don't forget those tonearm/cartridge cables! Apply to contact areas with a clean Q-tip, then followed by a clean dry Q-tip to remove the dirt, and then re-apply a light coating with one more clean Q-tip. Wait about 30 seconds and plug the connector in. Make sure to do both the male and female parts. For AC wall outlets & power cords, PLEASE make sure the power is off at the outlet and/or disconnected. For live outlets I applied the solution to the male portion of my AC cords, left it wet, then inserted it in and out several times, clean off, and repeat about 3-4 times. Once again, on the final step - apply a light coat, let stand 30 seconds and then connect. I recommend you even clean and treat your equipments' fuses/fuse holders. (again, making sure unit is disconnected from the AC)

If done right, you should hear what I heard - it was if a veil had lifted. Almost equivalent to an equipment upgrade! Dynamics (especially micro) increased. Definitely an easy tweak worth doing. Don't forget to repeat about every 4-6 months to keep your system tip top.
