Start Smokin'
While at my local cigar shop, I noticed a pile of cigar boxes in the corner. I asked the clerk about them and he said they're for sale at $15 for 5. There has to be a good audiophile use for these. You know what? There is! Aside from the obvious, that these make good parts holding boxes (tubes, screws, tools, etc.), there is another good use for them. Fill 'em up with lead shot/sand and you have instant VPI Brick copies. They come in all sizes. I use the 4"x 5" x 5" on top of mini-monitors and big power trannies. The low profile ones are great on CD players, preamps, etc. Put some soft felt pads on the bottom to keep from scratching equipment. It's a good idea to screw or glue the boxes shut once filled to prevent a mess from occurring. There cheap. look great, and work. Get some and have fun.
